Being part of Zoom meetings isn’t the same as being in person, but sharing these experiences provides an opportunity for students to get to know other students who share their experience of being blind or having a visual impairment. When we can meet again in person to tour businesses and workplaces, after each tour, the group meets at a local restaurant to discuss lessons learned and whether that occupation may be one the student might be interested in pursuing (or not!). Sharing meals builds community, social skills, and is an informal enjoyable way to connect and learn.
